Behind the art

My art is double-faced, as light and shadow.

On the one hand, I am looking for new paths of visual expressions through the synthesis of cubism, surrealism and pop art, which I call ‘futur-cubistic manga’. This is the language of light for me, which reaches back to the essence of created objects. I compose geometric figures with colours, so they represent the true substance of the visible shapes, by establishing their own visual world. Another characteristic of this guided visuality is its affinity to the Japanese manga-subculture, and the connection of the paintings in comic style.

The shadow-side of my art is what I call ‘urban techno’, which is a much more unconventional, caricaturistically symbolic, grotesque style. With its simplified unique shapes and symbolic use of colours, this technique is centering the typical movements, perversities and situations of our everyday life. It is using humor to balance the sadness and difficulties in our lives, so it can bring light into the shadows of human existence.
